Professional Experience

1974 - 1989

Assistant Officer with H M Customs & Excise, based at Grangemouth, covering all aspects of Customs & Excise Duties. Promoted to Executive Officer in 1978 and moved to Harlow VAT Office and worked in all aspects of the tax. Returned to Edinburgh VAT Office in 1983. Promoted to Higher Executive Officer in 1988. Responsible for the VAT control of several multi-national companies, including John Menzies plc and Scottish & Newcastle plc.

1989 - 1994

Moved from Customs to the former firm of Deloitte Haskins & Sells at the invitation of Charles Rumbles with whom he had previously worked in Customs & Excise.

1994 - 1997

Moved from Coopers & Lybrand to become a partner in The Durkacz Partnership at the invitation of Charles Rumbles and Bill Brunton. Providing VAT consultancy services to a wide range of clients (including several in education sector).

1997 to date.

Partner in The RCB Partnership, 2 Kinellan Road, Murrayfield, Edinburgh. Providing VAT consultancy services to clients.
